Statement of Faith

The Holy Scriptures

We believe the Bible is verbally and plenary inspired by the Holy Spirit, inerrant in the original manuscripts, and has been accurately preserved throughout the centuries (Matthew 5:18; II Timothy 3:16-17; I Peter 1:23; II Peter 1:20- 21).

The Godhead

We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing as Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; Isaiah 45:11,18, 21; John 14:8-17; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 1 Timothy 2:5;  1 John 5:7).

Christ Jesus

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is God, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross of Calvary, shed His blood as man's substitutionary sacrifice, rose bodily, and ascended to Heaven where He is presently exalted at the Father's right hand (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-25; John 10:30, Acts 1:9-11; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Colossians 3:10; 1 John 1:7).

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is God, a divine person, Who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.  He regenerates, baptizes, indwells, and seals all who believe into the Body of Christ until the day of redemption, teaching and guiding believers in truth, and conforming them to Christ's image (John 16:8-11, 13; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14, Ephesians 1:13,14; Ephesians 5:18; Titus 3:4).

Creation

We believe that God created the universe in six literal 24-hour periods.  We reject evolution, the Day-Age theory, Theistic Evolution, and the Big Bang theory as unscriptural (Genesis 1-2; Exodus 20:11; Colossians 1:16,17).

Salvation

We believe that salvation is the free gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose precious blood was shed on the cross of Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins (John 3:16; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12,19; Romans 11:6; Galatians 2:16; Ephesians 2:8-10; Colossians 1:14).

Eternal Security & Assurance of Believers

We believe that all who come to salvation are kept by God's power and are, thus, secure in Christ forever (John 6:37-40; John 10:27-30; Romans 8:1,38,39; 1 Corinthians 1:4-8; 1 Peter 1:4-5).

The Church

We believe that the Church is the Body of Christ and consists only of those who are born again (1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Ephesians 1:22,23; Ephesians 5:25-27).

We believe that the local church and its establishments are clearly taught and defined in the New Testament.  We believe the local church has the absolute right of self-government, free from any hierarchy and that the only head is the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 14:27; Acts 20:28-32; 1 Corinthians 6:4-5; 1 Timothy 3: 1-13; Titus 1:5-11).

We recognize water baptism and the Lord's Supper as the two Scriptural ordinances of obedience for the Church in this age (Matthew 28:19,20; Acts 2:41,42; Acts 18:18; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

The Second Coming of Christ

We believe in the imminent return of Christ, Who will rapture His Church.  At the end of the Tribulation, Christ will return with His saints to judge the nations and establish His earthly kingdom (Psalm 89:3,4; Daniel 2:31-45; Zechariah 14:4-11; Matthew 25:31-46; 1 Thessalonians 1:10; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Titus 2:13; Revelation 3:10; Revelation 19:11-16; Revelation 20:1-6).

The Eternal State

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men — the saved to eternal life and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment (Matthew 25:46; John 5:28,29; John 11:25,26; Revelation 20:5,6,12,13).

We believe that when the redeemed pass away from this earth, their soul is absent from the body but present with the Lord.  This is where they await the first resurrection, when spirit, soul, and body are reunited to be glorified forever with the Lord (Luke 23:43; 2 Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 1:23; 3:21; 1 Thessalonians 4:16,17; Revelation 20: 4-6).

We believe that when the unbelievers pass away, they remain after death, in conscious punishment and torment.  This is where they await the second resurrection, when soul and body reunited shall appear before the Great White Throne of Judgment and shall be cast in the Lake of Fire.  They will not be annihilated, but will suffer everlasting conscious punishment and torment (Matthew 25:41-46; Mark 9:43-48; Luke 16:19-26; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9; Jude 6, 7; Revelation 20:11-15).

Civil Government

We believe that God has ordained three institutions: 1) the home 2) the Church 3) the state.  Every person is subject to these authorities, but all answer to God.  God has given each institution specific Biblical responsibilities and balanced those responsibilities with the understanding that no institution has the right to infringe upon the other.  The home, the Church, and the state are equal and sovereign in their respective Biblically assigned spheres of responsibility under God (Romans 13:1-7; Ephesians 5:22-24; Hebrews 13:17; 1 Peter 2:13,14).

Human Sexuality

We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity should be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.  We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of Gods gift of sex (Genesis 2:24; Genesis 19:5,13; Genesis 26:8,9; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1:26-29,32; 1 Corinthians 5:1; 1 Corinthians 6:9; 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8; Hebrews 13:4).
